Drugs Abuse

Addiction can be defined as the excessive use of addictive substances such as alcohol, opioids, marijuana, or other chemical alternatives that cause emotional, physical, and social harm. Addiction can lead to the development of substance use disorder (SUD), a mental illness that causes people to compulsively use psychoactive drugs, regardless of the consequences.

Drug use not only affects the mental and physical health of the user, but also affects people after they stop using. Drug treatment can help you overcome addiction and make healthy lifestyle choices. They use a detoxification process combined with psychotherapy and behavioral therapy to help users achieve long-term sobriety.

Understand the physical effects of drug use

Drugs cause damage to the central nervous system (CNS). Hormonal imbalance disrupts brain chemistry such as enzyme production and antibody production. With continuous use, the body builds tolerance to the drug. Due to the disruption of the body's metabolism, it is impossible to control the drug, which gradually controls human life. Here we have listed the actions of several categories of drugs in the body.

Stimulants: Stimulants can stimulate the CNS. Taking stimulants, such as cocaine, increases brain activity which causes a person to experience self-confidence and racing thoughts. Physical effects of stimulant addiction include increased heart rate, high blood pressure, loss of appetite, and insomnia. The use of stimulants can send the brain into hyperactivity, resulting in seizures, strokes, brain hemorrhages, or heart attacks.

Hallucinogens: The use of hallucinogens blurs the line between reality and fantasy. The use of such drugs can lead to flawed decisions leading to side effects and unwanted conditions. It can also cause stomach problems and tighten the jaw.

Depressants: Depressants are CNS depressants. Hyperactivity reduces brain activity and sleep and relaxation of the user. The use of depressants can also increase the likelihood of developing a negative cycle of dependence. Long-term use of this drug can cause unconsciousness and coma, which can be fatal.
